Reveal and Conceal

I know I haven't posted anything in a while....I mean a long while and I am sorry for that.

Now that we are over that, here is my graphite drawing of me and my siblings. The one in the middle is my oldest brother, Marcus. No one really knows about him as much because he past away a few years ago. This is more of a dedicated to him. The other three that aren't in the upper right hand corner are my other siblings, (left to right) Anthony, Antwon, and Jasmine. Here are us in a previous project I was to work on last year but didn't get around to finish, Clemons Clan.

This drawing is also hanging up in the Art Institute of Chicago Museum. It is up until the 30th of this month of April if you want to see it, in the Family and Resources area. I am very honored to have a piece hanging up in one of the best museums in the world.

Hope you guys and gals like this one. It will be more artwork coming in the near future.

When will it get done?

I haven't been doing, creating, producing anything nowadays. What is that long obnoxious word I'm looking for.........................................................Got it! Procrastination! Procrastination can put a ton on your back if you let it pile up. Not only teenages but anybody can experience this heartbreaking crisis. Not getting anything done means not improving. Sittng around all day and relaxing 'til the end of the day, makes you wait to kill yourself but first ask questions. "Why didn't I do my homework?", "What did I do all day?", "I wonder, will I get more time to do the assignment?" Procrastination can be addictive. Doing it to much makes you feel like you are worthless, lazy, stupid, or maybe unreliable. (Well, that's how I feel.) That why people are always reminded of doing things.

Don't let P.R.O.C.R.A.S.T.I.N.A.T.I.O.N. be your destiny. So do your homework, clean your room, and draw that commission. Because the sooner your do it, the better. Do not waste time.

Remember this? If you don't, go to my older posts and find it. It should be titled "JUST IN" with two pictures in black and white an with letters everywhere. Well, this made it to the 2009 All-City Art Exhibition! Me and two Gage Park students got in it. We all made 2nd place Silver. The ceremony will be today, Monday, April 13, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The exhibit will be from April 3 - April 24, 2009, at the Illinois Institute of Technology Hermann Hall Conference Center, 3241 South Federal Street. Exhibit hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am - 8:30pm and Saturday-Sunday 9:00am - 6:30pm.

What should be?

What should be? I think there should be more coopering with the people than killing the people. There should be more love than hate. There should be idealistic than statistic. There should be care for other than selfishness. There are a lot of things in the world that should be, but seems to be fulfilled in very narrow matter. I always question myself, why people wait until the last moment to recognize what should be done to improve. Why does money control people in a way it makes you aggressive, although money isn't everything. But they say money is power. Then I ask myself, why there are so many poor people, or why most people doesn't have enough money to do what they want. I guess if you have too much, things could get ugly.

To get personal, when I want to get things it's always a money problem. I ask for it and there is a money issue. Not trying to be selfish but I wish I had all of the money in the world, like everyone in the world. What I start to notice about myself is that I hate asking to get stuff. That why when I want things, I try to get them by myself. That's pretty much what everyone does. What's the point of asking for things you won't possibly get. So the simplest way to get what you want, is to get it by yourself.

Here is my motto: "You could ask for it and hope to get it or you could work hard for it and have a better chance of getting it."

MEDIA, What Is Out There

Media is all around you. There is no way to escape from it. Unless you throw away your TV and your computer and lock yourself in the closet, but that's not the point. When you turn on the TV, the computer, the iphone, anything, media is around. There's good and bad media, it could make or break you. Media is like a con artist and in a minute, you could be the hero or the enemy. Like I always say, be careful who you talk to, text to, instant message to, and even play Playstation with. Because you might not know who is trying to (looking in the dictionary...), outwit you.

This project was about idioms. I enjoyed it, but it took me a while to finish. Well, it is a dog eat dog world out there so be careful who you mess with.

Usually when people hear about the bad things, it spreads faster than a wildfire. Also the good, if it's a big deal. I mean a really big deal. If everyone is in peace then there won't be any conflict meaning any gossip.

Shepherd Fairey

The topic of these artwork is odvisously about President Barack H. Obama explaining the meaning of hope in many ways. The hope of the United States, the hope of changing the people, the hope of changing the world into a better place.
Questions that could be asked in this artwork is, "Could this man improve the U.S.?", "Could he fulfill his duty?", "Could our hope be fulfilled?" There are handfull of questions that could be told from this piece.
This artwork is displayed almost any where you go almost. You go to the school and see it, you go to work and see, you go to the corner store and see it. This artwork is everywhere supporting the 44th President.
It seems to me that Shepherd made this piece through graffiti skills. Using a stencil like concept, using the American flag colors, red, white, and blue.
This artwork make the viewer, me, and the whole world think about that there is hope and thing can get done to make ways better. The first black President in office, any thing is possible.

Community Art Project

Not really feeling this community project, I tryed to put in something for this. To be honest, I was kinda lazy doing it......okay a lot of lazy. But what i was trying to do was really show how a inner city kid grew up in my town Chicago. Figuring I was running out of time on the project, I ditched that idea and went for the simple one. Like just showing the skyline of Chicago...uh...I pretty much didn't know what I was doing for this headache of an assignment. I was just trying to put things into it as I go, but that didn't work. Knowing I won't get an A on this project, I wasn't going to finish it. Then I thought about it, this could come out pretty good if I just go ahead and finish.

In the 1960s, the Marquette Park–Gage Park area became a center of testing for open housing for African Americans. Martin Luther King, Jr., led a march to Marquette Park where he met violent resistance from counterdemonstrators, a minority of whom were sympathizers of the Ku Klux Klan and the American Nazi Party. In 1972, Gage Park High School was integrated, despite much protest, including a boycott by white parents. In the 1970s and 1980s, several neighborhood organizations were formed to stabilize the area and to ease racial tensions: the Southwest Community Congress sought to improve race relations with bordering neighborhoods, whereas the Southwest Parish and Neighborhood Federation sought to curb real-estate blockbustering tactics and to maintain middle-class stability in the community. A subsidiary, the Southwest Community Development Corporation, has sought to revitalize the area commercially.

My Surroundings Outside

I don't have much to say about my community. All I could say is that I live here, on the Southwestside Chicago. There are various rumors about my side being the violent and not safe zone. That's what they say and I have to agree but, everything is not bad. To me, it how you and the people surrounding you make your community.

Barry McGee

Barry McGee contributes to community through his graffiti. He also does drawings, paintings, and mixed media installations and take his motivation from contemporary urban culture. McGee's graffiti deals with community because he brings to midn the homeless people and passing people on the street who call the streets their home. Known by the tag name "Twist", he view his art as a necessary process or technique of communication. That maintains him to inform with a greater, more different audience, also connecting through traditional gallerys or museums.

I Am An Artist

As an artist I like to challege myself. I like to create artwork in a more meaningful but simple type of way. I like to make people go 'WOW' when Ido my artwork. Whether my artwork is just doing a simple portrait or if my artwork is a complex something.
